What is a Pocket Cutting Garden?
Glad you asked! Simply put, it's just a small corner of your yard that you turn into a flower garden, adding life to your soil and your ecosystem. All of the flowers chosen for your pocket garden are pollinator-friendly, and are grown organically by us, for YOU!
Summer Pocket Cutting Garden flowers include:
- Benary Giant Zinnia (3)
- Pampas Plume Celosia (3)
- Giant Marigold (2)
- Frosted Explosion Grass (2)
*color and variety of flowers are subject to change. Website picture is not an exact example of flowers included in your Garden in a Bag.
Planting Instructions:
- pick a 3'x3' spot in your yard, cover with clean cardboard, then top with quality compost or potting soil
- plant plugs directly into compost/potting soil anytime between last frost (around April 15 in central Oklahoma) and mid July in a sunny spot (8-10 hours of sunlight per day)
- the chosen flower varieties will all bloom around the same time in a complimentary color palette (about 60-75 days from planting)
- keep soil moist for the first couple of weeks while the roots establish, especially if planting during the summer heat.
Harvesting Instructions:
- cut your flowers in the cool of the morning or evening for longer vase life and to prevent them from wilting
- cut deeply into the plant so you have long stems for your vase. The deeper down into the plant you cut, the longer the next stems will be as well
- put cut flowers directly into cool water after harvesting
- keep cut flowers out of direct sunlight in a cool spot in your home
- change vase water every few days to prevent bacterial growth
- cut stems at an angle every few days for longer vase life
